Cherry Orchard Movie

Professor mentioned that a lot what happens in this play is not actually acted out. My main thought based off of this notion was how the director of the move films the scenes that are critical to the plot yet have no script. I do not know too much about artistic license, but I wonder if filmmakers' ability to transform a written play into a movie counts as such.
